Jalen’s Personal Profanity Profile

Image
EXPOSURE As the youngest in a lively and colourful household, I was exposed to a wide range of influences growing up. With three older brothers, and parents who fostered teenagers, I was surrounded by enough energy and chaos to rival a sitcom. My Italian mother and Jamaican father added a multicultural twist to my upbringing, complete with curse words in multiple languages. Thanks to the abundance of teens in the house, I was introduced to all the raunchy classics-South Park, Family Guy, and anything else with questionable content. My brothers spent years yelling  colourful language at their video games, and as technology evolved, their cursing found a new home: the online world, where their microphones became weapons. Visual Tool

Image
Introduction: I created two visual tools for my Sign Language & Augmentative Communications. My younger cousin Raheem was diagnosed with autism, and I was able to create a First & Then Board and a Choice Board for him. Which turned out to be a great success.  These Visual tools were created with Boardmaker. I had to consider Raheem’s routine, his interests, and the things he regularly requests for. Objectives: My objective for the Choice Board was to help Raheem communicate his wants/needs in a quicker way. This board can be used at school and at home. As for the First/Then Board, The idea of this is to give Raheem a bit more independence and responsibility by making the decision of what task he wants to complete. This visual tool can be used however Raheem wants, he can either make the choice of the first and then options that are already put together or he can just simply point to whatever he wants to do. Core Competencies :  Showing Respect to Individuals & ...
