Application Assignment

 Introduction: For this assignment, I had to create a brochure for suicide risk/prevention in adulthood for Psychology. 


Summary: I chose this age range because it is not as strongly supported as other age ranges. Because additional risk factors are being experienced, suicide among middle-aged adults is rapidly increasing. Adults are more likely to be affected by risk factors such as criminal or legal issues, employment or financial troubles, divorce, substance abuse, lack of access to healthcare, access to lethal weapons, the development of illnesses or physical impairments, and more. Although it would seem that adults in their middle years would make sensible decisions, this topic is significant because people often assume that if something is acceptable for them, there are no other options. 

Adults who are considering suicide need to understand that it is not the solution, that it is preventable, and that treatment is always available. The brochure that l've created includes self-reflection questions, risk factors, indicators of potential signs, facts, and resources. My project is really straightforward. It teaches self awareness and how to handle it, which is ideal for adults since they regularly want to get things done right away. Due to its simplicity yet effectiveness and the inclusion of the key information without going into great detail, this brochure is ideally suited to this age group. Whether someone is suffering suicidal thoughts or not, I think they would insist on picking up the booklet because it is helpful and packed with useful content because it is easy to read and appealing. The promotion of suicide prevention and ways for the community to be more receptive and supportive of the issue are things that, could have been added, if they were needed.

Visual Tool

Introduction: I created two visual tools for my Sign Language & Augmentative Communications. My younger cousin Raheem was diagnosed with autism, and I was able to create a First & Then Board and a Choice Board for him. Which turned out to be a great success.  These Visual tools were created with Boardmaker. I had to consider Raheem’s routine, his interests, and the things he regularly requests for. Objectives: My objective for the Choice Board was to help Raheem communicate his wants/needs in a quicker way. This board can be used at school and at home. As for the First/Then Board, The idea of this is to give Raheem a bit more independence and responsibility by making the decision of what task he wants to complete.
